I have been reading the lore sections of the forums on EQ2Players. I cant get a coherent story out of them. I have lots of questions but I will start with one and see what happens.

This is how I read it.

There is one continent and Qenyos and Freeport are not seperated by water. (Stop me if im reading it wrong).

There are two major events and I want to know which is the one that caused the massive changes in geography, oceans boiling up, continents splitting.

The shattering, which I gather was about 10 to 15 years prior to the opening of EQII and

The Rending, which I gather was around 400 years ago.

Now, the lore says that D'lere was at a battle and took control of freeport during the Rending, is this correct? If so, he's a rather old dude, and what about Antonia? How far distant in Norrath time is this game from the last?

There WAS one continent Antonica where everything we have in EQ2 was a together unseparated. There were other continents on Norrath: Faydwer, Odus, Velius, and Kunark.

Now there are the remnants of Antonica separated by the islands created in the Shattering. I don't know the island names, but Qeynos is on the Antonica/Thundering Steppes island and Freeport is on the Commonlands/Nektulos island. So they are most deffinitely separated by ocean in EQ2.

I'm not entirely sure but these are my assumptions on the history of the Shattering.

It was a backlash of the gods apparently displeased from being killed in the Plane of Time. Some of them wanted to withdraw and others wanted to destory everyone, so they fought. Eventually Solusek went nuts and blew up Luclin, the Shattered Moon we see up in the sky, and I have to personally thank him for that. I knew I picked the right diety in EQ1.

This destruction of Luclin cause cataclysmic events on Norrath separating the continents and destroying nearly all civilization, and then the gods withdrew their influence completely, and Norrath has been rebuilding ever since. This is most likely the same event referred to as 'The Rending.'

That was 500 years ago, and 100 years after where EQ1 currently runs. So, the time lapse is 600+ years between EQ1 and EQ2. I'm not aware of any events that happend 15 years ago, but I suppose that may be when the reformed cities began to regain power and civilization.

Lucan D'lere was the leader of the Freeport Militia, who were in direct conflict with the Freeport Cleric and Paladin guilds. So in EQ1 the city was split good/evil faction. But with Lucan taking over the city, he dismantled all of the good factions. He's immortal, so yea he's been around a long time, but he's died a lot too. Personally I killed him at least 10 times for paladin epics.

I know nothing about Queen Antonia Bayle, other than the Bayle family rule goes all the way back to Qeynos in EQ1. I don't think there's anything incredibly special about her, like special magic or immortality. I think she's just queen because the Bayles have been rulers for centuries.

Haha Â? Sol Ro blew up Luclin! ThatÂ?s great! IÂ?m with RenÂ? I always hated that damn moon. Twisted Evil

I guess when Fobas was whipping us threw PoTime every week, forcing us to kill the Gods, we had no idea they were going to destroy the planet and mess everything up for EQ2!!! I kinda like how they tie that lore together. IMO Planes of Power was the last good expansion that SOE put out for EQ1 Â? had good lore, story lines and encounters. The flagging was a PITA, but overall the game went WAY downhill after PoP.

Agree 100%. PoP was a great raiding expansion, and GoD totally killed the game fully and completely. I'm surprised I stuck through the BS as long as I did in GoD.

OoW started to recover, but something new was long overdue. I will still look back on our first PoTime Vallon Zek kill fondly. 3 weeks on one encounter was sheer torture, but finally doing it felt great.

I still maintain... If I could find a guild that would let me show up once a week and raid PoTime and not do anything else, I might actually think about playing EQ again! Shocked

Well... that and if I didn't have to pay $15 a month for it!!!

I'm pretty sure Celestial Navigators and Tribal Fury are doing that very thing now.

I logged my level 17 bard on two weeks ago when they opened the month free for old subscribers. It was painful. It took longer to zone than it takes in EQ2, and very few of the graphical annoyances have been improved. I looked at the new nexus, got confused and logged out Wink

I thought about logging my wizard on but I remembered, what the hell am I going to do? Kite plane of fire??

Ummm Nexus hasn't changed Razz At all.

PoP sucked....alot. Doing Carprin Cycle in the area of 40 times because we got some new app who was probably going to leave a week after they got into the guild was annoying. It did have good models and storyline, but the gameplay with PoP was just boring as hell.

I love Gates of Discord. The graphics are ugly as all hell, and it was extremely buggy at launch (That has been fixed) but it is still a ton of fun to play. I can see why alot of people don't like it. Tipt is still a challenge to more casual players, and even alot of raiding guilds will have problems with Ikkinz 3 and 4, not to mention Uqua, but the higher end of that expansion is a ton of fun.

Most people love Omens of War. MPG trials are fun, both raid and group ones. Anguish is ok. But the constant asking of people wanting epic help has me beating me head againsta wall again.

Dragons of Norrath just plain is a great expansion. I love it (Except the Creator mission, everyone only wants to do that friggin mission).

Depths of Darkhollow comes out this month, I don't know much about it, but have heard good things thus far.

Okok, bazaar. But you're right, I didn't really start raiding PoP till after you guys had figured out everything before Rallos Zek. Kinda hard for me to judge the whole expansion from elementals on.

GoD completely failed because of the repetition. If they had put a handful more effort into models, I wouldn't have lost interest so fast. It felt like we were spinning wheels, cause look, here's a new boss, but it's the same model as what we killed 3 months ago Wink I know there's a new boss at the end in Ikkinz, but you shouldn't have to get all the way to the end to see the 9th new model of the expansion.

DoN does look cool, but I still like having my life back Wink

There's not a new model at the end of Ikkinz, it's just a golem. Tacvi has a new model at the end. He's cool. I'll agree 100% about the models sucking. There are only a handful, and with the exception of the Kyv and the native guys they all suck too. However because they spent no time on the models they put alot of time into the actual encounters which I liked.

On the other hand, it makes sense there are only a few models, all the monsters are from the Muramite army, so it's expected they would be the same throughout.

And I still have my life! You just need to learn to say no alot Razz I may not be the most popular guy in the guild for my lack of playing but when I get bored or tired I just log off np.
