I know some of you may not like the GU comics guy, but I have to post this one. I hope some of us can up with some great stories of things we have done in RL that has been brought over from some game we have played in the past.

http://www.gucomics.com/archives/view.php?cdate=20050930

For Example:

My wife who played original EQ back in the day when your compass was what we called "The Sense Heading Button" that you had to push and it sometimes would give you the idea of what direction you were running. Well one time that I can remember she was driving and started to get the same look I see when she is lost in EQ while she was driving. Then I would see her periodically look around the car as if she lost something there too! Well after a while I asked what was the matter. She said, "I cant find my sense heading button." LMAO! I SO LOVE YOU DEAR! Wink

My story about my experiance is: A little background, I work for a business credit card company in a fraud department. Each company that we supply cards to have a mediator between us and them and we speak with them periodically. Well this moment I was speaking to one of our clients and I had asked her for the account number to look into her inquiry. Well the last 4 digits of the card she had used the word, "LEET", but to video game enthusiasts it is spelled, "1337", which at that time I knew what she meant and put in 1337 without thinking. The best part is after realizing what she had just said I questioned her and said, " Do you by chance play an MMORPG by chance? I presume EQ perhaps?" and from there she had played a warrior up to lvl 65 and just recently quit. Ohh we had fun talking for about 45 minutes about stuff we did.....sadly everyone around me just looked at me with disgust hehe. ohhhh how these things just pop into our heads.... Twisted Evil

If your not able to view the forums they have on the webpage for the joke here are a few I think are HILARIOUS!

This one is for those who play EQ2...

You know, when EQII came out, there was a big run on low-level resources once players found out what they were used for. So I'm standing at the bus stop, in RL, right, and there, about 20 feet away, is a big tree branch the wind has knocked off a tree. I look around me, to find out whether anyone else has spotted it and when I see they don't, I quickly start heading towards it, to harvest it, befor anyone else beats me to it. It was then I realized that I was not in EQII, but in RL. I stopped and took another look around to see whether anyone had spotted my incoherent behavior. But I was lucky, seems everyone was wrapped up in their own thoughts...[/quote]

I had similar experiences with EQII. Late and beta and then the first month or so in the game live I was really working on tradeskills and harvesting a lot. I'd find myself out in the world looking all around in case a node of ore or wood respawned.

You've been gaming too much when you start seeing:
'An evil integral' ^^^ Heroic
Takes a group of three students or more to defeat

This one is for my wife.... Wink

Watching the last season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer when Buffy finds the über vampire slaying axe, my wife asks, "What is that thing?" Without even thinking I reply, "That's Buffy's epic."

Have fun and lets share stories! Laughing Very Happy

I think the best example of how MMO game "speak" is making it into main-stream society...

I regularly use www.webster.com to look up words or definitions. On the main page of their site they had an article titled "Top 10 Words Not In the Dictionary"

Guess what #1 was?

"Woot - an exclamation of joy or excitement"

Not a day goes by I don't say "WooT" when something good happens or something goes right! Razz

I read somewhere that others have had this problem too. As I was driving home, I saw a dead deer on the side of the road and I thought of stopping to loot it.

Guess we all have some of these things happen.

I was going by a bridge near my home and there was one of the manhole things that look like the ones to get to sewers in FP. Looking at it I was wondering what zone it would take me too.

Even more funny is when my Spouse goes hunting and tells me about his kills and the wonderful set of antlers he looted.......He don't play the games but picked up the language.

I had a couple of these recently...

I got mad at a guy for driving 35 in a level 40 zone....

Also, EQ2 has introduced me to a lot of herbs/spices I've never heard of before, and being a provisioner I get waaay too familiar with them. Recently we went to an Indian restaurant and they served a lot of dishes with cardamom, and the first thought in my mind was 'ah, tier 5, those will have nice stats.'

That is too funny Renvik. No wonder Noctem looks the way he does...He is always stuck in those dank cooking areas all the time. Twisted Evil
