The Commonlands were grey and bare.
No hint of snow anywhere.
The orcs paraded armed and mean.
No Christmas joy was to be seen.
The forest loomed all dark and scary
While ambling through was poor Larry
He searched by night and searched by day.
And as usual went the wrong way.
Where was Christmas he asked a tree,
That he ran into aimlessly.
The tree was mute so he moved on
And asked a bear sitting on the lawn
The bear yawned wide and gave a grin.
And tried to gnaw on LarryÂ?s shin.
He smote the bear, once then twice
Then thought about being naughty or nice.
He left the bear a little dazed
And continued on through the maze.
The Enchanted Lands a thought did spark
Christmas wouldnÂ?t be here in the dark.
So off he trod to the far away docks
While dreaming of his Christmas socks.
But Christmas wasnÂ?t to be found.
In the The Enchanted lands or all around.
So back to Freeport he made his way.
Certain that Santa would skip the day.
He slammed the door and stomped around
And woke up Gnasch who was sleeping sound.
Â?What troubles you my wayward pet?Â?
And Larry said Â?No Christmas yetÂ?.
Gnasch got up and made some tea
Â?Well my friend let me see.Â?
Â?Christmas time in this forsaken landÂ?
Â?Isnt pretty, isnÂ?t grand.Â?
Â?The poor of Freeport do not cheerÂ?
Â?When their tummys rumble for all to hearÂ?
Â?The ground is cold, the table bare.Â?
Â?The ragged clothes they have to wear.Â?
Â?No my friend I greatly fear.
Â?YouÂ?ll have to bring you own Christmas cheer.Â?
Larry thought about what he said
And got an idea in his empty head.
He nodded twice and spun around
He knew where Christmas was to be found.
So he went to the attic and got a bag
And filled it with all the treasures he had
A roll of parchment, ink and quill
Then he was ready to spread good will.
A quiet corned he finally found.
Glad the monkey wasnÂ?t around.
He made some cards, cutting slow and straight.
Then drew some pictures to decorate.
Then he found some tape and a little string
And wrapped his gifts for cheer to bring.
To Kaerai and Renvik a moldy stone
That he always thought looked like a bone.
To Nicolette a worn out shoe
That he wore all around when it was new.
To Buffe he wrapped a faded rose
That he liked to smell (though he has no nose).
To Khain the hilt of a broken sword
That he liked to play with when he was bored.
To Sabre and Stiks each got a pair
Of moldy socks from gods knows where.
For Nyt a pane of old stained glass
He took from a window that they had passed.
To Fongg and Grimm he thought real hard.
Then gave each tokens, slightly marred.
For Tanadil he wondered long
And settled on a old cracked gong.
For Cherry a broken fishing pole
He stole from a grumpy little gnole.
To Dak he saved the best of all.
A bunch of string wound in a ball.
On through the night he wrapped sang.
Checking all the names of the ES gang.
When he was through his pile was gone
All his treasures he had kept so long.
WhoÂ?da thunk when he started out,
Looking for Christmas all about.
That in the end heÂ?d find it here
Among the things he held so dear.
He left his gifts in each ones house
Creeping quiet as a mouse.
A gift and card, each one reads
Â?Mery krismass to al my fiendsÂ?
