Anyone who is retarded enough to pay more than retail value for their XBox 360 needs to get their head examined. It's just a friggin game console not the cure for cancer. It's not gonna kill you to wait a couple months and get it later. If your kid is having a fit over not having one: BEAT HIS ASS.
Besides...X BOX SUX! PS3 $$ _________________

I agree with you Steph I would rather have a PS3 then the Xbox360 machine but both are just great consoles. Problem I am having now is if you look at the Xbox360 Sales on Ebay! I WAS AN IDIOT NOT TO GET IN LINE AND RESALE on ebay! Just another crazy holiday year, next will prolly go about the same. _________________ Tanadel Talonleaf - Great Grandchild of Tanadil Truecaller of EQ1---lvl 54 Ranja

Hey now!
The SUPER DUPER funny thing about the EBay X-Box 360's are the dumbasses who don't click the "buy it now box". They are bid warring each other jackin the prices up to over 1k and you can do a buy it now for between 600 to 700 bucks and they are IN STOCK or people who are taking advantage of the brainwashed mob of "I MUST HAVE A 360 TO BE COOL!" and went and got one just to sell on ebay _________________

This is why I usually wait a couple of years before buying a new console.
Well, that and the fact that I hardly ever play them. Maybe it's time to take some of the Dreamcast games out of the wrapper... _________________ Formerly Lizarde/Miltorrus of <Epic Shadows> in EQ

I got my XBOX at Walmarts on the first of January. Never having a PS2 i dont know how they compare but the 360 rules over the old XBOX. The biggest surprise was the quality of the DVD movies on the HD tv. Since the XBOX plugs in through the component input the picture quality went way up, we watched the brothers grimm on it and it was phenominal.
I also had King Kong for both versions and the difference is amazing on the 360. The wireless controls are head and shoulder above the old wireless controllers since they are all built in you dont have to have the little widget plugged into the controller port.
And now for the amusing story on how we got it.
My wife and my youngest daughter went to Walmart on the 1st and got in line about 5am, the store opened at 7am and they were the first in line. When the store opened there were about thirty more people behind them. Walmart had advertised in thier sunday fliers that they would have the 360's in stock on New Years day.
When the store opened the day shift manager came out and told everyone that there were no 360's in stock and that they were not issuing rain checks. This spawned several aggro mobs among the men that had been out there for two hours since this same guy had been in the store since about 5:30, he had to flee back inside when several of the men began screaming at him. My wife, not one to take no for an answer left the screamfest and wandered back to the electronics counter. The night shift manager happened to be there and she asked him when the 360's would come in. He told her that there were 12 in the store room and asked how many she wanted. Three other men had followed her and they all walked out with 360's, the rest of the mob had all gone away very angry. |

May I ask how much this little adventure had to have cost though? I for one love to test and play all video games....except Gamecube....Nintendo in my mind (my opinion only so flame me if you wish), "That is SOOOoo like 1985." I am tired of the Mario's and Luigi's. Give me the hard stuff on Xbox and PS2. I do have both an Xbox and a PS2 and love them dearly, but I am interested in the new and approved.
My guess is I am waiting till the PS3 comes out before I get the Xbox360 because I am hoping the $$$ will drop in price. Not only that I am hoping that a few more game titles will come out by then that would make me go "OHHHHH and AHHHHH" just like that. Then when Nintendo comes out hope to buy the PS3 under the same assumption. Granted I may need to start taking out loans just to buy these machines now...
Still Gnasch give me an estimated price or something? _________________ Tanadel Talonleaf - Great Grandchild of Tanadil Truecaller of EQ1---lvl 54 Ranja

Hey Tan - you played Doom 3 on XBox yet? OMG it's killer!
I got a $25 Blockbuster Video gift card for Christmas and I figured, "what the heck..." I'd go see if maybe I could go get a decent used game with it or something. I got there and started rummaging thru their selection when I found a Collector's Edition on Doom 3 for XBox for $19.99! What was crazy was, the regular versions were selling for $29.99!
I figured it was probably mis-marked, but I took it to the counter just to see. I was fully prepared to play the, "Hey - you gotta sell it to me for what it's marked" card... but it rang up $19.99 at the register! Funny thing was, the clerk was like "wow that's a great price! I'm gonna go get one!" He wasn't happy when I said "Sorry this was the last one!"
Anyway - the game is killer. I'm having a blast with it |

Cosole $399.00
Perfect Dark Zero $55.00
Call of Duty II $55.00
Finding a game my son cant whip me at: Priceless
There are two version of the console With Hard Drive and Without. The striped down version is $299 but the hard drive lets you store player profiles for both local play and XBOX live. Its a pretty sweet setup. I dont know much about this but the console tracks your progress on each game and stores it to your profile, the games themselves offer rewards for levels cleared and bonus levels that are locked at the beginning of the game. My son knows more about that, I just like to turn it on and start killing things.
The multiplayer games arent as choppy as they were on the old xbox, we would play three or four on Halo II and it got a bit whacky. The only problem that ive had so far is that it wont play some of the older games. We put in Fable and I got a message that the 360 wouldnt play the older game. |

They only added backwards-compatible support for a handful of games on the xbox 360. Like 20 total from the last article I read. And this was after a lot of consumer pressure, cause they planned on no backwards compatible support.
Also, the version without the harddrive has NO backwards support.
Tan, you buy the xbox 360 and I'll get the PS3 and nothing can stop us!!! |

Buchalter - I have actually rented Doom3 on the XBOX during Halloween last year, but sadly I did not have alot of time between school and playing EQ2 it got pushed to the wayside.
I will admit its a hard game with some fun cinematics and scary playing that I am wanting to rent it again! Just finding a good time to play the game is hard right now. I basically got to the part where you really start having to fight a bunch of guys at the beginning and got my arse handed to me because I started it out on hard.
I will definately rent it again and maybe take it over to Renviks and Keiri's house to freak her out. hehe
Gnasch - I know how you feel about the priceless part. I have to keep up on the new and greatest games to insure I still kick my brothers butt in the games when he comes to visit. Once he gets a handle on it at friends or other family members house's I get my butt handed to me big time. hehe He is 17 years old the little punksters...(I almost said he is lvl 17)
Is it beneficial then to get the hard drive for the XBOX360 if your NOT going to be playing on XBOX live? Or is it the ONLY source for saving your game and do they have cards you can use to save them on? (Really I am just looking for what you think because I know I can easily look this all up.) Thanks Gnasch.
Renvik - I think that sounds like a GREAT idea! We purchase another thing of 60 wings from Wingers and a huge case load of MTN. DEW I think we have ourselves some all nighters headed our way! MUAHAHAHAHA! I can already sense the power of our entertainment RISING!

Im not sure about the card, I know there is one because they allow you to port your profiles around with you from box to box. If I go to my brothers house i bring my little card with me that has all my preferences loaded, when we start I go to the menu and select my profile.
This is different from other consoles because the control preferences for every game are stored on the box, so you could have a set for Perfect Dark that are slightly different from Doom.
It also allows you to take all of your XBOX live setting with you as you go. I dont think theres a whole lotta storage on it, its more like a flash memory card, just the essentials. |
