Some interesting stuff... the drool on my chin speaks for itself.
Now if only I could come up with something to convince the cable company that bringing me broadband before the release of EQII really is a life or death situation. _________________

It sounds like sooo much fun. While at Keiri and Lud's I got to play around with character creation, and that combined with all the things I've been hearing so far makes it so I can HARDLY wait.
Yah, i'm sure there will be some dissapointments and bugs, but man, i'm still gettin excited. _________________ Nicolett Lvl 56 Fury

Two raids available by level 9. Haha, that's so cool!
reminds of when stromm went live. openning day there was NO spawns to be found in qeynos (150 players and 12 minute respawn time) so several dozen level 2-4's raiding black burrow... was total carnage (the gnolls won) and one of the best "raids" I've been on
but now knowing sony these level 9 raids will result in ONE drop (that every one of the 24 people will need for their own quest), the zone level capped at 10, and if you miss the raid or bypass/out level it you won't be able to get your epic without doing a 100+ hour level 50 sub quest to obtain the item.
seriously, I hope they pull a page from WoW and have multiple quest items drop from the boss mob or have the boss perma spawned/instanced. I'de rather plow for 4 hours knowing that the boss is actually UP and WILL drop my item than camp a PH/spawn for (endless) hours... but hey that's just me (and anyone else who's camped raster/shards etc..) _________________

There needs to be a happy medium. I was proud to get my epic because of all of the difficult things I had to do. If it was spoon fed to me, along with every other wizard that decided they want thier epic, it wouldn't have been nearly as meaningful.
Single drops and rare spawns keeps us with stuff to do. If everyone that needs the quest item gets it the first time then we're done, and that sucks.
From this excerpt the person also mentioned that most boss encounters are instanced. Even though raids may drop one item at a time, we won't have to compete with other guilds for the rare drops, which I consider a happy medium. |

I have to agree with Lud. The difficulty in getting your epic is what makes it EPIC. If every encounter guaranteed a drop of the item you need then everyone will have their epic and it is less meaningless and ranks up there with just about any other quested item. I do think that making the drops insanely difficult to get, i.e. warrior epic or ranger epic (stupid emerald thingie) is a bunch of crap. Make it challenging, but doable. The shaman epic was challenging if you did it the right way and didn't cheat on the faction quest. There was one mob that was a rare spawn and that was quite obnoxious looking for him for days on end, but at least he was like lvl 40 and duoable so when he did pop it was an easy kill, but what sucked was that he didn't always drop what you needed. If they are going to make a rare spawn it BETTER drop what you need. I mean it is bad enough looking for him or killin PH's for days on end and then finally get him and he doesnt drop your item.
So in a sense they need to still make it challenging and toss in some tedious efforts, but take out the insane time sink for it. _________________

I agree it shouldnt be easy, but as said, ranger/warrior epic is BS. raster for 60 hours, KC 40 hours+ is also BS (compared to a total of maybe 20 hours for my ENTIRE druid epic). rare spawns are ok, but the chance for the named to spawn to increase with every PH, like start at 5% and add 5% per PH cycle until the damn thing pops. also, a rare spawn should NOT have a rare drop. (rare drops should come from common mobs) _________________

EXACTLY! Challenge with balance. I think any spawn that takes more than 3 hours to show up after they are killed is just crap. Casual players may have a total of 4 hours to play on any given night, but we don't like to spend that time parked in one spot.
I also think there should be an exception on "green mobs" dropping needed items. For example if the mob drops a piece you need for a quested item your class can use I still think you should have the opportunity to get the piece as lore. I mean there is no way we can figure out what pieces we need for some quest even if it isnt for an epic. _________________
