Spence & I have thrown it around ourselves a bit.. RL is a bit hectic at the moment but maybe by release or shortly after I'll give it a try. _________________ Nicolett Lvl 56 Fury

Well I know from playing it for the short time I got to in Beta was pretty fun!
I think they did a good job of making it feel LoTRish when playing and the graphics are not that bad for computers that are older models. Its a mix between WoW and Guild Wars from what I can tell.
We may pick it up like Laurren said. _________________ Tanadel Talonleaf - Great Grandchild of Tanadil Truecaller of EQ1---lvl 54 Ranja

Ryan! hi man
Well when it comes to MMO's I am out of the WoW stuff right now and just playing simple ones while we are trying to sell our house.
If you guys ever pick up Titan Quest or Never Winter Nights2 let me know! _________________ Tanadel Talonleaf - Great Grandchild of Tanadil Truecaller of EQ1---lvl 54 Ranja

Haha no way! You're on Gladden too! I just randomly picked that server. I've got a couple characters... Loderr, a dwarf Warrior (tank, whatever...) and ...
Nerple, a Hobbit Burgler!!!!
I couldn't resist making a Hobbit and naming it Nerple. I figured if somewhere the "real" Nerple knew that his namesake was being used on a Hobbit it might make him cry!

its a really solid game actually
the most xp is from quests (even heavier than wow quest xp) and obviously the quest line is fairly linear. you can still go out and adventure, but to 'progress' you really don't want to stray too far from the story line.
it is NOT as linear as a console game, not even close, but it isn't as "open" as eq either (but then again the level cap is 15 until release and the 20+ instances may be more WoW like as far as adventuring and loots). the only drawback i see is i wouldn't want to reroll an alt and go through the same quests etc all over again.
crafting is simple like wow, but more cross dependant on each other, and the best items in game will be from crafting (or at least on par with raid drops)
pvp is by playing a monster npc vs other monster npcs (havent tried it yet so can't comment)
technically the game has run for me without a single glitch or hang up so far and the graphics are amazing.
overall a solid 7/10 _________________

Well so far ditto to what Smawl said.
I would give it a 7/10 as well but it could change once you can get past 15 and the game starts.
I have a feeling it will get a 8/10 from me when all is said and done. _________________ Tanadel Talonleaf - Great Grandchild of Tanadil Truecaller of EQ1---lvl 54 Ranja

i sprung the 5 silver for a guild charter, maybe over the weekend we can get something formed (not sure if you have to be online to sign the charter, but it will disband in 24 hours if we don't have 6 memebers)
check back here for sign up day/time (i am thinking sunday morning) _________________

So I was looking at the class/race lineup. Seems like a very low amount of variety in class choice compared to what we're used to. It also looks like the classes are tank heavy, so how do the differences between a Champion, Guardian and Captain pan out?
I also see they only have one healer and one magic caster class, and as if that's not boring enough, the magic caster and healer are the same class, so there's really only one kind of caster. Yeesh! Is there some form of specialization or unique character development that I'm not seeing on their site?
Final observation: 90% of the population is going to be Hunters. I don't think I can handle being around that many tree humping fruits. |

Champion is like a dps tank, guardians seem to be able to mitigate much better even though they both were heavy armor. guards have lots of abilities with the shield instead of just blocking. the captain is kinda like the squad leader in swg, nice group buffs. I think instead of making 20 classes and having 3 different people who can tank or 4 different dps classes to choose from to fill a group out with they made it pretty simple. you have a tank and a healer and someone who can buff the group and dps, maybe in form of caster of ranger. haven't played a caster so not sure just what all they can do. I see a lot more tanks and healers than anything when i play it. _________________
