What is a quick way I can dump out my PC stats? I forget the command.

I want to make sure I will be able to run EQ2.

I'm not sure of a quick way to do that, but this is what I would recommend:

-2+ Ghz CPU
-1 Gig RAM
-$200 video card

jazz,

i WAS running (before it melted) a 1.0 pentium, 512 ram, 128 geforce5200 (dx9 + shader) video and things ran ok on the lowest of settings (graphics about equal to old eq graphics) when I was soloing ONLY.

if I got in a group things ran like a big raid or MGB in POK (we're talking 4 people in a group with no else around)

in cities I was lucky to get 10 frames per second, and often would lag so bad that by the time my display caught up I had overshot the vendor or door etc by 50 feet. clicking a door and waiting 5 seconds for it to open was common also (actually that was kinda cool, you could walk through the door but it wouldn't show as open until sometimes after you LEFT the building!)

i am not sure how much was because of beta (lag was getting better for me in the last patches) or how much was because my video card was on the fritz but basically I couldn't play full time on my machine at all (even before it melted).

depending on my rebuild I MIGHT try it again (don't really wanna buy it only to find out I still can't run it) and will let you know how it works (looks like 1.3 processor unless I can figure out how fast a processor my mobo will support, radeon 9600 or geforce5700 video (256mb) and a gig of ram)

I have P4 1.9Ghz, 1GB Ram, XP SP2, Nvidia GeForce 3 Ti500

Smawl and I were thinking maybe I need to upgrade my graphics card to get some better performance.

Jazz, send me that puter and buy a new one, you cheap bastard. LOL

I have to order a new puter to play, I could barely play EQ with what I have right now.

Oh yeah, upgrade the graphics card first, then send it to me.

I have been exchanging emails with Guidia, Stoutarm, and Orazio. We have our pre-orders in.

I got an Athlon 2600 processor today, I am running 1 gig and I have a Nvidia GeForce 5200. Should I look at a newer video card or go to a 256 bit that is available with the current card I have? Any suggestions ?

youre MUCH better off going to a better 128 card than upping the ram size on your current model.

I just bought a new card (128mb 5700 TD) which the tech said was WAY better than a 5200 256 model. (i had the 5200 128 model which was decent... right up until eq2 melted it...)

I also had the choice of the plain 5700 model with 256 ram... again, the "ultra" 128 model was better.

(the 5700 is still 2 generations ago, but hey, it was affordable)

from what I am reading the best bang for your buck is a radeon 9800 PRO (bout $250ish I think) or if that is too much go 9600 ultra/pro. just make sure you have texture/shader compliant and you should be good.

if you got piles of cash get the nvidia 6800 series - only $400 ish Shocked

I will be upgrrading to a new processor aswell (currently 1.3 gig head towards a 2.2), depending on your motherboard you might want to go to a 3200xp (think your 2600 is running about 1.6 gig, the 3200 runs 2.2 or 2.6 if I remember right)

Actually no games right now, other than Doom 3, use 256 megs of video memory. So, it's smarter to get a faster, expensive 128 card, like the 5700 Ultra (which I have and also love it), than to get a 256 meg card.
