quick question about eq2...do artisans level slower by fighting than an adventurer before lvl 10? or does it only affect your subclass selections?

artisan was changed from a class of its own to an add on that anyone can pick up. you get trade xp for every item you create which gives you tradeskill levels. recipes have a /con to you and xp is based on how high a triv you are attempting.

you can't fail making something but every item comes out differently depending on con of recipe, quality of ingredients, and how many boo boos you make (you have to pay attention when crafting and push reactive hotkeys to things like the forge getting too hot etc or you botch the final item somewhat).

you can tell it was supposed to be a class of it's own, it take 6-8 subcombines to make 1 item and each combine takes a minute or two.

and oh, it definately pays to adventure level your character so you can go forage (harvest) the raw materials. you can buy vendor materials but they are inferior to player collected stuff. i suppose you could just stay a level 1 adventurer and do a trade full time (you can only master 1 of 9 trades) but you'de be at the mercy of other players for materials

trust me to find that out....

Several times I have not completed a scroll and ended up with a cracked jar of something (it mostly happens when I have to run to stop the house from burning down and I can't hit those little buttons)
